The key is choosing the right pack for your module rather than assuming every dual-zone or triple-zone cymbal will behave the same way on every brand of brain.

What makes a cymbal pack right for your module?

Start with your spare inputs. This sounds obvious, but it prevents the most common expensive mistake: ordering a three-cymbal expansion pack for a module with one available trigger socket. Count the inputs that are genuinely free, then check whether any are shared with another pad or reserved for a specific function such as a ride bell or hi-hat controller.

Next, look at the type of input and what it supports. A dual-zone crash normally provides bow and edge sounds, with a choke function on compatible modules.
